Our Cirriculum
Alice Christian School utilizes the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum which is built upon the following five basic laws of learning:
· Students must be at levels where they can perform
· Reasonable goals must be set
· Students must controlled and motivated
· Learning must be measured
· Learning must be rewarded
In the ACE curriculum, each subject is presented in workbooks called PACE's. PACE's are working documents which lead the students stage by stage, through each subject. Students master the material at a speed consistent with their ability as they work in private workstations/offices in the Learning Center.
The knowledge in a PACE builds upon what the child has learned in the previous PACE's. In this way, he or she is constantly adding to a store of knowledge. PACE's allow children to progress steadily through the curriculum, building a firm base of understanding. Advancement to new material is not permitted until testing demonstrates that the student has thoroughly comprehended all the material contained in the previous PACE.
From its beginning in 1970, the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum
has held to the following goals:
· A solid back-to-basics educational program
· A course of study individualized to meet a child’s specific needs and learning capabilities
· A program incorporating goal setting, character building, and wisdom principles
· A curriculum using available, advanced computer technology to help ensure the finest education possible in
today’s high-tech climate
One significant result from adhering to these goals is that students score higher than their counterparts in conventional programs using the same standardized achievement tests.
Whether the student is a high achiever or a moderately paced learner, the Accelerated Christian Education educational process proceeds at the exact level determined by the child's ability.
Individualization makes it possible for each student to master the subject before moving on. Such mastery is the foundation upon which all future learning is built. Individualization produces academic excellence. Students take responsibility for their own learning. Biblical character training received as part of this learning experience prepares students to welcome and accept challenges and future opportunities that come their way. Biblical values and concepts considered foundational to relationships and productive living are conveyed throughout the curriculum in such a way as to become life-shaping influences.
